What NOT to Pack: 20 Things the Destination Already Provides
The packing list is a fear list. Here are 20 things that can stay home.

Open the average airport diaper bag and you find archaeology: three teething toys from different eras, a crushed rice cake, six diapers too few or twenty too many. The bag was packed by fear. This is the other way — one bag, packed as a system, where your hand finds everything without looking.
Diapers: one per hour of total journey time (door to door), plus two. That’s it — every destination on earth sells diapers, a truth explored properly in what not to pack.
Feeds: journey time plus a three-hour delay margin, per our security-friendly feeding guide.
Clothes: two full baby changes, one adult top. Not three, not five.
The test before you zip: pick the bag up with one hand while holding 8 kg of baby in the other arm, and walk a flight of stairs. If you hesitate, something comes out. The bag serves the journey — the journey does not serve the bag.
Up to a toddler-plus-baby combination, yes: one change pod each, shared everything else, and the toddler carries a tiny pack of their own entertainment (they’ll want to anyway).
Many airlines allow a diaper bag as an extra item with an infant; policies differ. Check yours — it changes how you pack the adult bags.
The parent’s spare shirt. Babies aim.
